Abu Dhabi wins bid for 16th WCTOH in March 2015
The International Liaison Group on Tobacco or Health (ILGTH) unanimously selected Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates, as the location of the 16th World Conference on Tobacco or Health in March 2015. In total, eight countries submitted bids to host the conference.
Abu Dhabi's bid was presented at the ILGTH meeting on 20 March in Singapore by the Emirates Cardiac Society, the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority. Key factors leading to the bid's success were the accessibility of the location from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and its commitment to provide support for a significant number of delegates from low- and middle-income countries.
